1) Daniel is an ambassador for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. He says “The Air Ambulance provides such a vital, life-saving service and receives no direct Government or Lottery funding. It costs £3,600 a day to run the service, that’s over £1.4 million every year. My job is to help the YAA show people that supporting the Air Ambulance is easy, fun and relevant to them too. Kart racing’s a high-speed sport and I hope I never need their help but if I did, I know I’d be in safe hands – that’s got to be worth supporting, hasn’t it?!”
2) Daniel’s race day always starts by waking up to a tune called Good Luck Charm. “I first set my alarm with this tune at a Stars of Tomorrow round and did really well, two days in a row. So I set again, and I won a club race. I did it again and came 2nd at the Buckmore Super 1 round. So now I always set the alarm to that song.”
3) Like many new karters, Daniel got his first taste for the sport at an indoor track. In his case it was at Raceway Karting in Batley. Remembering his roots, Daniel has lent his skills to the Batley team in the 24 hour race held at Autosport International (11 / 12 January 2007, NEC).
4) Daniel says he’d like to be a professional racing driver, but isn’t fussed about “being rich and having stupid amounts of money. I just want to enjoy my job and have a descent lifestyle. Oh yes and of course, a fit bird!!” Even at the age of 15, his racing driver credentials and priorities are spot on.
5) When he’s not racing, Daniel is just like most teenagers – he loves watching TV. Not surprisingly, his favourite DVD is The Fast and the Furious.
